It starts with high-quality core instruction and schoolwide behavior expectations for every student, then layers targeted and intensive support based on data. It's how a system organizes people, time, and resources around student need. Tehama County Department of Education partners with districts and schools to build and sustain MTSS through coaching, professional learning, data systems, and leadership support.

Assessment is most powerful when it informs next steps. When educators regularly review evidence of student learning, along with attendance, behavior, and school climate data, they can understand what is working, identify needs, and decide what to do next. Looking at multiple sources of evidence helps teams make informed decisions and check whether their actions are improving student outcomes.
In the classroom: Use evidence of student learning to plan instruction, provide feedback, and monitor progress.

Use assessment evidence to understand student learning and make informed instructional decisions.
