Tehama Teacher Induction Program

Tehama Teacher Induction Program is an accredited California Induction Program, governed by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.  Our purpose is to provide a system of support and mentoring to help new teachers successfully transition into the teaching profession.

What is a Teacher Induction Program?

Tehama Teacher Induction Program is a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support, and professional learning that begins in the teacher’s first year of teaching. Educator preparation programs are locally designed and implemented in accordance with program standards and are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing to recommend candidates for a Clear Credential.

Tehama Teacher Induction Program offers a system of mentoring that builds on the competencies gained during the preliminary program to strengthen the professional knowledge, skills, and perspectives of new teachers.  Tehama Teacher Induction Program establishes an alliance between the Commission on Teacher Credentialing, Institutes of Higher Education, and district and site administrators to provide a system of support that

  • ensures the availability of resources,

  • coordinates training and support for mentors,

  • connects Credential Candidates to the larger professional learning community, and

  • offers Credential Candidates multiple opportunities to demonstrate growth toward mastery of the California Standards for the Teaching Profession.  

We strive to cultivate a culture of teacher growth and development, build teacher leadership among mentors, retain qualified teachers, and enhance student learning.
