The focus of the ESS Department is to support our fourteen districts through high quality and sustainable professional learning. We offer administrators, teachers, and paraprofessionals behavioral and instructional support through comprehensive content-focused professional development, technical assistance in assessment and accountability, and resources in the areas of English Language Arts, English Language Development, Mathematics, Science, History, and Instructional Technology.  Our programs support educators in navigating the Common Core standards, Next Generation Science Standards, History Social Science Standards, and statewide interim and summative assessments. We realign our work on an annual basis to provide current and ongoing information to improve teaching practice and instructional leadership to support the needs and goals of our districts.

In addition, our department collaborates with after school programs, local community colleges and universities, and community businesses and organizations to prepare students for college and career success.

Our MissionTop of Page

Our mission is to be All About Learning by serving, guiding, and supporting schools and districts as they strive to continuously improve, as they are building systems and working to meet assessment, instruction, and curricular needs through addressing the emotional, social, and academic needs of the whole child.

Our VisionTop of Page

Educational Support Services is a leading professional learning organization for Tehama County and Region 2 for PK-12 services. ESS maintains strong, positive professional relationships with our TCDE colleagues, fourteen districts and Region 2 partners with whom we work. In the spirit of continuous system wide improvement, ESS provides guidance and support to all stakeholders. Technical assistance and professional learning will be based upon current state/national educational policies, district/school data and LEA priorities. ESS consultants partner with educators to support the implementation of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment for all social, emotional and academic areas to meet the needs of students.

We believe in providing our colleagues with the necessary support to build their own capacity and that of their students to increase student achievement.  Services can be requested through contacting Lorna Manuel, ESS Administrator or Brandy Farmer, ESS Administrative Assistant III.
