Teachers of Science will integrate the three dimensions of the Next Generation Science Standards for California into existing science coursework. All science courses will be included in order to promote vertical articulation and interdisciplinary connections consistent with the learning progressions and the crosscutting concepts of the California Next Generation Science Standards. Professional learning communities will be built on a sequenced progression - from a coaching model in Year 1 to the development of lesson study groups in Year 2 and will be designed to culminate in sustainable, professional learning communities.

The professional learning experiences and support for secondary science teachers (grades 6-12) in this project will be designed around four components:

1) science and engineering content knowledge,
2) pedagogical content knowledge for integrated instruction, 
3) leadership development through coaching and lesson study 
4) integrated curriculum development.
