The Special Education Department consists of two main programs: Special Programs and Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).
Tehama County Department of Education provides a wide range of services for children and young adults with special needs. We operate these specialized programs and services at the request of the County School Districts, but it is the individualized Education Plan team who make decisions about the type of placement or services a student may be provided. For more information on the programs offered, please visit our special schools and services page. If you have any questions about Special Education programs or services, please call us at 530-527-5811.
Since 1977, the eighteen school districts of Tehama County have joined together with the Tehama County Department of Education to form a consortium with the County Department serving as the Administrative Unit for special education. This consortium is known as the Tehama County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).
