To promote safe and healthy schools and the success of young people by: Promoting youth as assets through the development of a comprehensive, coordinated community and school-based prevention and youth development effort. Providing current research and best practices education, materials, and technical assistance to schools, health and human service agencies, and residents of Tehama County in the areas of substance abuse and violence prevention, health education, school safety and crisis planning, and resiliency and youth development. Supporting local efforts to provide youth and adults an opportunity to come together to learn, teach, work, and contribute in their schools, communities, and neighborhoods.

In order to promote cost-effective, results oriented services, Student Support Services operates in accordance with the U.S. Department of Education’s No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Principles of Effectiveness: Programs are based on a thorough assessment of objective local data. Works with a local or regional advisory council to establish a set of measurable goals and objectives and designs programs to meet those goals and objectives. Designs and implements programs for youth based on research or evaluation that provides evidence that the strategies used are effective. Evaluates programs periodically to assess progress towards achieving goals and objectives, and uses the evaluation results to refine, improve, and strengthen the program and refine goals and objectives as appropriate.
