Cluster One

Welcome to Cluster Region One

Office of Regional & Statewide BTSA Support Services

There are 23 Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Induction Programs serving all school districts in the northern 29 California counties that make up BTSA Cluster Region One. The Tehama County Department of Education and the El Dorado County Office of Education have been awarded funds to sponsor the work of the two Cluster Region Directors, Cindy Gappa and Lisa Danielson. Research shows that the job-embedded licensure experience that participating teachers experience in BTSA Induction is working to ensure a caring competent qualified teacher for every child. Among the services provided by Cluster Region Directors are:

  • Provide professional services to all personnel involved in local BTSA Induction Programs.
  • Provide assistance with program design, implementation, refinement, and evaluation of services to beginning teachers.
  • Disseminate information about teacher induction programs to all participants within the geographic region and collaborate with other CRDs statewide.
  • Collaborate with CDE and CTC administrative staff to ensure ongoing program improvement.
  • Facilitate connections to other reforms and initiatives
  • Assist with statewide databases including retention data
  • Support transition to newly revised program standards
  • Provide technical support for BTSA Induction Programs that recommend teaching candidates for Professional licensure.
  • Provide differentiated support for programs to serve all eligible beginning teachers, including those teaching special education and career technical education.
